Booking a Session
I take a limited number of sessions per month. This allows me to deliver a highly personalized experience for each of my clients. I believe it is this level of personal attention that ensures I get my clients the images they TRULY desire.
Because I only book a few clients per month, it's very important that you contact me early to secure your spot on the calendar. You can contact me through the Contact page or through my Facebook page.
My booking fee is $300. This fee is non-refundable and is the only way to guarantee your session date. This fee is due at booking, and will be deducted from your final purchase price. After you have reserved a session, you will receive periodic emails or texts from me with tips for your session, questionnaires, and we will be in close contact while we plan your session.
On the day of your session, we will meet at our chosen location (in the studio, if it's a newborn session). During your session, I will coach you through unique poses, allowing for clothing changes and location changes until we either run out of ideas or we run out of sunlight. LOL! All outdoor sessions are scheduled for the hours prior to sunset. All newborn sessions are scheduled for mid-day.
I will post a sneak peek of one (or more) of your images within 24 hours of your session. Within 2 weeks, I will have all of your images edited and ready to view. The number of images I deliver depends on the package you have chosen.
Once you've had a chance to fall in love with your images and decide which ones are DEFINITELY going on the wall, you'll be needing the large resolution files to print. I will ask you which image(s) you would like on your wooden box and other package prints/options. If you owe a balance, it is due at this time, prior to the release of the large resolution files on USB and other package items. Payment plans are available, just ask! If you've chosen package 1 ($300), you have no balance due.
Your custom wooden box and engraved USB drive (with your photo files pre-loaded) takes about a week to arrive.
All large-resolution files come with a print release so you may print them at the lab of your choice, indefinitely. For the highest quality prints, I recommend allowing me to have your images printed through my professional photo lab. My equipment is calibrated to their printers, and I personally check each print to ensure the finest quality, durability, and accurate coloring.
Most of the images you see on this website are of newborns between 5 and 14 days after birth. At this age they are still sleepy and we can get those sweet curled up poses, and if we are lucky, some dreamy smiles! After this age, they don’t sleep as deeply, often don’t like being moved around into different positions and start to lose that “newness” or “curliness” and may become colicky, or develop “baby acne”.
To provide my clients with the highest quality, and non rushed sessions, I only take a limited number of sessions per month. It is important to schedule your session while you are still pregnant to avoid disappointment. This way, I can add you to the list of babies due for that month. You can then add me to your “To Call” list after you have your baby, and we will pick the best time that falls within the first 14 days. However, if you just came across my website, and have a baby under 14 days, please contact me, I will do my best to accommodate you.
All newborn sessions are done in my natural light home studio located in Grenada, MS. It is bright, warm, and relaxed. Perfect for your little one to be cozy and stay in dreamland. Take this time to sit back relax and watch some T.V, while I capture beautiful images of your new baby. All newborn sessions are held around mid-day during the week. Studio is closed on Thursdays, weekends and holidays.
I believe in simple, clean, organic, classic portraiture, a style that focuses on your beautiful baby. I don’t use a lot of“crazy props”. Some of my favorite images have no props at all. Just baby. 100% beautiful on their own. This way, they don’t get lost in the image. I do have simple props available at the studio, hats and headbands and lots of textures that I like to use. Newborns often look most beautiful naked, or just with a hat, headband or wrap. Newborns are beautifully perfect…just as they came.
The arrival of a new baby is a life-changing event. It's a deeply personal journey for every expectant mother. I've been honored to attend, quietly, the births of my clients for nearly a decade. I form a personal relationship with them, getting to know their growing family as their due date approaches. Expectations are clearly discussed so that the mother's wishes remain paramount. Special consideration and care is taken for client privacy during birth sessions. All photos are strictly confidential without your explicit written permission.
Due to the unpredictable nature of labor and delivery, I remain on-call for clients beginning with week 36 of pregnancy. If you are having a scheduled delivery, I still remain on-call in case of an early arrival. I typically arrive at the hospital when mom is in active labor (5 cm and contracting regularly). I stay for the duration of labor and delivery, and for up to 2 hours afterwards to capture those precious first hours.
If you are on the fence about birth photography due to it's private/sensitive nature, I urge you to contact me about it. I'm a mother myself - I get it! I will never take photos you request I not take. I'm skilled in using flattering angles and lighting techniques that hide or show only what you want shown. And remember, you can always keep your birth experience photos to yourself. You just can't go back and recapture it afterwards. Contact me and let me tell you more about having me photograph your birth.
A Fresh 48 Session takes place in the hospital (or birthing center, or at home) in the first day or two after birth. Generally, the sessions take place when family and friends arrive to meet your new baby for the first time. This is an excellent option for clients who don't want their birth photographed, but still want photos in the hospital. This is also a wonderful addition to Birth Photography for when babies come in the middle of the night. This way, everyone has a chance to freshen up and be ready for pictures, say, later in the afternoon. Fresh 48 Sessions are scheduled for mid-day, when guests would typically be arriving at the hospital.
